One Litre of Tears
just started watching this drama because my sis kept on insisting me to give it a try even though i'm not that into drama with a sad plot.
But the first episode was addictive enough to kept me from sheering away and thus leading me to the decision of going on and finding out what it's all about.
First off, a slight intro to the story...
Kitou Aya a 15th year old high school student finds out that she has Spinocerebellar Degeneration(SCD). From that moment on her life started to change. This is shown through each of the episodes of how the disease slowly takes it toll on her on many aspects ranging from family members, friends, school, studies and finally herself...
Now about SCD itself,
Spinocerebellar Degeneration is one of a group of genetic disorders characterized by slowly progressive in coordination of gait [way of walking] and often associated with poor coordination of hands, speech, and eye movements. Frequently, atrophy [ the condition of losing flesh, muscle, strength, etc] of the cerebellum occurs.
SCD results in unsteady and clumsy motion of the body due to a failure of the fine coordination of muscle movements, along with other symptoms.
The symptoms of the condition vary with the specific type (there are several), and with the individual patient. Generally, a person with SCD retains full mental capacity but may progressively lose physical control.
There is no known cure for Spinocerebellar Degeneration, which is a progressive disease (it gets worse with time), although not all types cause equally severe disability.
Treatments are generally limited to softening symptoms, not the disease itself. The condition can be irreversible. A person with this disease will usually end up needing to use a wheelchair, and eventually they may need assistance to perform daily tasks.
[Note: Info taken from Wikipedia]
In short, this disease causes the person to lose control over his or her body slowly however the person retains all of her mental ability thus this disease is like a prison.
So wanna know more and what happen to Aya in the end???
Go get yourself the DVD or VCD. A collector's piece/item that is a must!!!!
(hehe, i already owned the VCD vers.)
yupp, finally i hope that anyone that comes here and read this will consider giving this drama a try. And do let me know what's your opinion after watching it.
5 stars from me!
